Text Fairy does one job well: it reads text from photos. Snap a picture of a printed page, a whiteboard, or a handwritten note, and it converts the image into text you can copy, edit, or save as a PDF. It works offline, supports over 50 languages, and even tries its hand at handwriting. The layout is plain and the app is open source, so there are no ads and no accounts. It won't beat a paid scanner on fancy features, but for quickly grabbing text off a page, it's fast and honest.
