About this app
Overview, features and application details
Take a photo of a mushroom and the app identifies the species, then shows where others have spotted it nearby on a map. A handy companion for foraging walks, though always double-check anything you plan to eat with an expert.
Mushroom Identifier & Map starts with your camera. You photograph a mushroom on the trail, and the app tells you which species it thinks you've found. Then it gets more interesting — there's a map layer where you can see reported sightings around you, which helps you learn where different species tend to grow.
The app is by Reworld Team and launched in mid-2025. It's built for the outdoors: open it on a hike, log what you find, and build up your own record of the fungi in your area.
One honest note, and it's important: no photo app should be your last word on whether a mushroom is safe to eat. Some lookalikes can be genuinely dangerous. Use this to learn and explore, and bring questionable finds to a local expert before they go anywhere near a frying pan.
