About this app
Overview, features and application details
Launched in 2026. Identify birds by their song or a photo, collect species cards, and build your own Life List.
Lifer is a 2026 newcomer from developer Sam Lewis, made for birders and the bird-curious. You're out on a walk and hear a bird you don't recognize — record the sound and the app tells you what species it is. You can also photograph a bird for a visual match.
Every species you identify becomes a collectible card, and the app keeps a running Life List of everything you've spotted, with dates and locations. That collection angle is what makes it fun: it's a hobby app, not a field-guide PDF, and there's always a reason to keep looking and listening.
It's a fresh alternative to the older birding apps, with a cleaner, more playful feel aimed at people just getting into the hobby.
