Ear trainer based on Alain Benbassat's method — learn to recognize notes by their function within a key. 1.4 million installs, 4.8 stars.
Functional Ear Trainer is built on Alain Benbassat's ear training method. Instead of drilling intervals in the abstract, it teaches you to hear each scale degree by its role inside a key.
The idea is simple: you learn what notes sound like in context, so you start recognizing melodies the way you recognize words in a sentence. It clicks differently than interval drilling.
It has 1.4 million installs and a 4.8-star rating. Best for musicians who want to play by ear and hear music functionally, not just name intervals.
